Left front rotor noise

I have 2007 honda accord. I get a squealing noise from the left front wheel. Upon inspection, I found the shield behind the rotor must be making contact with the rotor. I bent the shield away from the rotor a little. The noise stopped for about a month, now it’s back again (sometimes). There is plenty of break pad material,and I do not hear any bearing noise. Before I pull it apart any further, any thoughts?? Thanks..

When you check pad thickness, if you check the outside pad, the easiest one to check, there can be plenty of pad left but the inside pads could be worn right down.

I did remove both brake pads.. Plenty of material on both. Once I bent the shield away a litte, the noise went away..This time I will remove the rotor and investigate it further..The high temp. is 0 degrees today, so I’m not too motivated to do it today..Stay tuned..Thanks for the help..

When the dust shield was rubbing the rotor.Did it machine a
groove.If the dust shield scraped long enough.You removed the
pad transfer coating which may cause the squeal.

That’s actually quite common and not something to really worry about. It happens a lot after doing suspension work or replacing an axle. Usually all you need to do is bend it back like you did and you’re good but sometimes you need to go back and adjust again. Sometimes debris gets caught in there too. Sometimes all it takes is the removing the brake pads, cleaning the area and reinstalling everything is all you need to do.
