      hello,

I have a 93 honda civic hatch and am having problems getting the left front parking to come on.
all other lights work, except the left front parking light(blinker works)
I have tested the plug for continuity, so its not the plug. then, I checked for voltage on the red/blk wire and dont seem to be getting voltage.

hoping someone can help shed some light on the issue

Could you describe for me the exact procedure you followed to test the socket for continuity? Also, exactly how you went about testing for voltage on the red / blk wire. I just want to make absolutely certain what your results mean before I give you an answer.

the bulb was taken from the clip. now with the plug in hand, I tested for continuity from the front of the plug to the wire behind it, which is the red/blk wire that powers the filament for the parking.
then, I tested the striped red/blk wire and tested for voltage. the right drivers side gets around 12v, while the left passenger side has no voltage.

Ok. So, what you need to do at this point, is follow that wire back through the harness, doing two things. First, looking for any obvious damage to it, and 2nd, testing along the way for power in it. It is very likely that you will find a spot where that wire has managed to rub against something, and is cut either entirely through, or enough to have gotten wet and corroded, or short into something else, but it is also possible that you will find a plug the wire goes through, where it is losing power due to a bad connection in the plug.

Sounds like you need to trace back that red black wire to it’s source. I believe the parking lights are all on the same circuit. That would mean that only the wiring for the bulb you’re having issue with is at fault. In short you can rule out a fuse or power supply problem. It’s most likely in the wiring somewhere. If the vehicle has been in a front end collision this might be the cause. Often electrical repairs don’t get done, or done properly during a collision repair.
