Hello everyone, relatively new to the forums and basically a virgin to auto repair. I’m currently working as a lube tech at a chain store, I’ve learned a bit from the guys here but our car count is so small and apparently old managers clubbed customers on pricing that there’s not much else to do here, much less expand my knowledge.
Already planning on going for my state and emissions licenses and getting out of here, but I’m torn on my decision on where to go. I feel like I’d be able to take the time to learn more at an independent shop, and would get experience on a broader range of vehicles, but a dealership would have specialized training courses.
School is currently not an option for me, I’d like to go eventually but as of this moment it seems nigh impossible. And I still would like to learn/get paid in the mean time.
Advice/suggestions?
