I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla, 1.8, LE. I am at 125,000. Had it since new. Not very many troubles, on third battery. I heard that at 120,00, I should do some maintenance, I decided to change plugs, and flush coolant. No problems changing it, it looked pretty clean, just used a regular cleaner, but about a week later I had no heat. I checked the reservoir, and it was empty. I went home and filled it up. Next day it was gone again, but no sign of it leaking out while sitting in driveway. Drove it again the next day after filling the reservoir again, same thing, gone again. We looked close, and it looked like it was coming from the upper hose. Replaced it, (couldn’t find a break in the hose anywhere) and still had a leak. It seems to be coming from the end of the hose where it meets the pipe that comes out of the block. My son thinks there is a hole in that pipe somewhere, I believe it has to do with the clamp. We moved it around, and even replaced it. When you squeeze the hose, it squirts out like a squirt gun, other wise, it drips. It did get better and worse with moving the clamp closer to the end and back, but still dripped. Has anyone had this problem? I don’t want to try to repair the pipe with steel stuff til we’re sure that’s what it is. We used a mirror, and light, but couldn’t see any break in pipe. Thanks for any help.

Might suggest you pressure test the system.
If a mirror does not give you a good view might try one of those USB bore scopes.

You have a leak and a part will have to be repaired or replaced.

That’s about all we can reliably say with confidence.

Is the hose the correct size, maybe its slightly bigger? Had that issue on my car

A picture would be very helpful here.

Thanks guys. I found a friend of a friend who’s a Toyota head mechanic and he helped me. It was a small hole in the pipe coming out of the block just past the ridge that the hose goes up to, so it looked like it was coming out of the end of the hose. He solved it by putting the hose over the ridge and clamping it past the hole in the pipe. He said he’s never seen anything like it before.

The leak started before we changed the hose, that’s why we changed it.
