Knock sensor code just came up, car calls for 91 octane 87 in the tank.

My car just popped up a check engine light for the knock sensor code 23 I believe it was, I put in a half tank of 87 octane yesterday I almost always run 93 but it has been a slow week and I though I would save a few bucks, regretting it now. So basically my question is what if the engine detonates due to the lower octane fuel and there is no knock sensor to retard the timing? You think octane booster might work? Car is a 94 honda prelude SI, knock sensor looks like its going to be a real pain to replace.

Give it a try..
Worse case is you’ll have to drain the 87 out of the tank and put in high test
