Kind of body related – What is this part called?

04 Mustang automatic. Where the shift handle goes into the console there is a plastic piece that covers the hole, follows the shift handle. It also has the orange pointer on it that shows where on the PRNDL display you’re on.

Mine cracked long ago and finally fell completely inside the console. Big ugly gap now. Matter of time before something that shouldn’t be in there gets in there.

What the heck is that piece called? I tired about a dozen ideas searching on ebay and can’t find one. Scared to go to Ford, they’ll likely not want to sell it separately.

Stuff like that is typically sold in a kit. You can search around for a shift lever repair kit. Dealerships have no issues helping you ad well. Give them a shot too.

Edit – it’s later today already. Love it when there’s free time when I first get to work. LOL

I started with your search term “shift lever repair kit”. Came up with nada. So just put in “04 Mustang automatic shift lever”, then added “bezel” to it, and found a used one for 65 bucks. It’s the entire shifter assembly that bolts to the tunnel. Being used it’s just as old as mine and just as likely to fail the same way mine did. So…

Dremel tool and sheet plastic time! The edges are hidden so I don’t have to be too pretty. Good project for the next stormy Saturday afternoon.
