I am working on a friends 2007 kia spectra. The problem is that when you hit the brake pedal, there is a squeaking noise coming from the shifter. The noise only happens when the transmission is in park. The noise does not sound like normal brake squeak as would be associated with a bad bushing or linkage, it is lower pitched and definitely coming from the shifter/center console area. You cannot hear the noise at all under the hood. I pulled all brakes and inspected, all looked fine. I also lubed the brake pedal linkage to no avail, is there some kind of solenoid in the shifter area that is failing and making that noise? Any help would be appreciated.
