keeping cats off your car

Any ideas for how to keep the neighborhood cats off my car?
Don’t want to hurt them, so nothing like shooting or antifreeze please.
Also don’t want to use a tarp.

Was thinking about some kind of motion detector and a sprinkler 🙂
To bad cats don’t touch the ground.

Just buy a car cover and be done with it. Cats are going to always be around since so few pet owners take personal responsibility for their animals.

I once saw a cat jump on a BMW. The BMW put out a high-pitched whine that sent the cat back to to the ground and on its way. There must be an aftermarket version of that.
