A few days ago I made a post about some o2 sensor problems I have on my 99 Accord LX ULEV 4cyl. and mentioned that O’reilly had sold me the wrong cat according to to smog shop, to which Eric replied that it wasn’t that the cat was wrong, but that aftermarket cats just don’t work with Honda computers and will always give you a code. Called Honda for a quote for an OE cat and the guy told me $1400. I asked him what he thought about grabbing a used cat off another ULEV Accord with an F23A4 from the local junkyard and he said legally I shouldn’t have a problem as long as I have the receipt, but there’s obviously the risk that the cat won’t be any good. Thoughts?

It is a violation of Federal law for a salvage yard to sell a catalytic converter unless it has been tested and marked by the salvage yard… I don’t know of any salvage yard that would even do that… the salvage yards are considered responsible for its condition and they don’t want that liability…

But, if it has been checked, it should be good..

        Good luck

        Karl
