I live in Chicago.I work on cars for a long time friends and family cars and trucks. than went to school for auto and diesel. Have my ASE. B) have my little side jobs but that been slow. seems like everything been slow.Is there any hope for the Techs any more?

Sometimes door to door works best.

The shop I work at in the Chicago suburbs is very busy. There is some hope out there but trying to find a high paying flat rate tech job now with there been so many technicians out of work is rough.

I would just keep applying at local indie shops and dealerships wether there hiring or not.

I’m looking for a new job too. The Nissan dealer I work at is way too busy and I don’t think I’m getting paid as I should for all the work I do.The people here are assholes who only care about money and just getting the job done as quickly as possible. Sometimes not even doing it correctly and risking breaking something else. Just keep looking and eventually an opportunity will pop up. My little cousin has been looking for a job at a dealer for about 3 months and he finally got a job at a Mazda dealership which he loves.

At this stage I lost my hope it could be different from this anywhere anytime. It’s all the same story, different countries, different makes, different places, regardless…
