After 5 years of wrenching on a couple of Jeeps with solid axles, I’ve now got a 2003 Ford Escape 4WD, which has fully independent suspension.

I’ve been used to jacking my Jeeps on the axles, meaning that I’ve been able to get both front or rear wheels off the ground at the same time. I’ve preferred doing it that way, because before I started doing that (following recommendations on the Jeep Forum) I was lifting one corner at a time, and on a couple of occasions I found that while I was jacking up corner #2, the jackstand under corner #1 was starting to lean over.

Will I be wasting my time trying to find safe jacking points on the Escape so that I can lift both front or rear wheels at the same time? Should I just accept that from here on out, I need to lift one corner at a time?

Not sure the dimensions between your lower control arms but perhaps this may work for you.
