Please let me know how this sounds. Use a floor jack to lift the vehicle.Put the vehicle on Jack Stands with the locking mechanism. Also use the wood blocks and Floor Jacks to support the vehicle at the same time.
This way you have the safety of 3 systems. 1) Locking Jack Stands 2) Floor Jack 3) Wood Blocks

Sounds good to me. Overkill is better than an accident. I’m always nervous crawling under a car wondering if just maybe I didn’t get itsecured enough…especially when you’re not working on a concrete floor with the best equipment.
Couldn’t agree more. The jack is not removed due to lazyness most often, but it is nice to have the car supported as well as possible when you are under it. Pulling on a rusty nut with hand tools can make the car jerk quite a bit. If possible push or pull directly up or down when you are struggling with something and not sideways even though is most often is the easiest angle.
Remember to check the surface you are putting it on is flat and stable. Gravel, soil and hot asphalt can make for nasty suprises.
I often leave the jack in place so that it makes taking the vehicle down easier. As for supporting with wood we’ve covered this in another thread and I’m opposed to it. I’m all for redundancy but I think the wood or cinder blocks should not be used. Jack stands are designed to support the vehicle and if positioned and secured properly they should be more than enough.
