following advice given on here i have tried to locate the source of the “Thump, Thump” of my car while turning right (no longer does it turning left) and i 1st started looking at the steering shaft. I have yet to look at the CV joints. While looking at the shaft i noticed black coloured oil like substance where the shaft goes into the firewall. is this normal?

Yes that is normal. Please don’t start a thread that is related to an existing thread. All it’s going to do is confuse the subject. The point of these forums is so the group can bounce ideas off each other, and keeping info in a single thread will help anyone in the future who has similar problems to yours. And please post the make, model, mileage, and year of the vehicle.

Ok I will do that from now on. I have always been bitched at by other forums (and banned) from “hijacking the threads” that i need to always start a new thread rather than start asking related questions in someone elses’.
How do i put a signature on my posts? there i will put make/model
December 2, 2012 at 3:39 am #481836But it wouldn’t be someone else’s thread, it’s yours.

thats not the point
December 2, 2012 at 7:28 am #481907Actually that is the point. Iasked you not to start a secondary thread on the same subject, and you said you didn’t want to start a different subject on someone else’s thread, which is the subject (ie the point). But it was your thread, was my response to the point meaning yes that is the point, the whole point and nothing but the point. You are becoming a nuisance. You seem very argumentative for someone who has a very very limited grasp of automotive mechanics. You start threads when you have no intention of following anyones advice. I don’t know if you realize this but there are quite a few real mechanics on this site. Either listen to the advice that is given and get your head out of your ass, or stop posting questions and leaving advice on other people’s threads.

December 2, 2012 at 12:48 pm #482047Clunks can be pretty easy to diagnose. Jack the car up and start hitting metal suspension parts with a rubber mallet until you hear a clunk. Then you know where the noise is coming from.
Here is a helpful video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scFbb43fwqk
And don’y worry about starting a new thread. There a plenty of users on this website that are going to view your thread. If you upset one reader, no big deal. Just move on.
I hope this helps! good luck!

Who cares if he started a new thread. This is a forum for people to ask questions and to get help, so you should really stop being an ass and let people do what they want. This forum is to help people so if your not gonna help someone then dont bother responding. I know your new here, but you just cant act like the forum is yours and telling other people to get there ass out of there head, everybody on this forum helps each other out and does not insult each other. As for the person with the issue that suspension vid should help. If you cant get the tools just buy a cheap set or use other things that can do the similar job.
December 2, 2012 at 9:59 pm #482125If you do not have the tools the diagnose an issue, i would consult possibly some friends who have the resources or worst case scenario, take it to a qualified technician.
As for multiple threads, if you have one thread in process that relates to per se a brake issue and you have more questions regarding that same issue, please continue that same thread. However, if you have a new unrelated issue, start another.
December 5, 2012 at 2:13 am #482960Sorry I missed you didn’t have tools 🙁
Here is a link from Autozone for a $20 Jack. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/deals/dealMaker/dealMaker.jsp?dealId=34971&showDealMaker=true
Hopefully you have one nearby you. And a rubber mallet costs $3 at your local hardware store.
Hope this helps!
Good luck my friend!
December 11, 2012 at 11:31 pm #484661It is difficult if not impossible for us to tell you exactly what’s wrong with your vehicle without seeing it for ourselves. It’s unfortunate that you don’t have any tools to do even the basic diagnostics to find the root of the problem. For those reasons I might suggest you take it somewhere to get looked at just to ensure there isn’t a safety issue or something like that.
Good luck.
