Hey All,
Simpel question and I posted it in here for lack of a book section,
I am very interested in trouble shooting elctrical issues in vehicles so my question is:
does anyone know if “Vehicle Electrical Troubleshooting SHORTCUTS” is worth it’s high price or not. Or are there alternatives.
Tia for your answers.
Sincerely,
Len

what do you consider a high price. I’m not sure if I
like short cuts in electrical. There should be plenty
of automotive electrical trouble shooting out there.August 25, 2013 at 5:44 pm #540665If you want to learn electrical troubleshooting in depth, watch scannerdanner’s videos. There is even a video featuring both Eric and Scannerdanner.
August 25, 2013 at 11:26 pm #540700I would check ebay and see if you can find the dealership service manuals for the vehicle. I found a set for my car on ebay. It’s pretty mindblowing all the information that is in there!
August 26, 2013 at 8:18 pm #540788I consider 70+$ not including the shipping costs to Holland (Europe) A high price. But if the contents are mind blowing measuring wise and like it promisses, with nothing more than a dvom and an amp clamp, I think it is money well spent.
August 26, 2013 at 9:23 pm #540793Yes, Scanner Danner and Eric. I saw that video. It made me search for more of these. Scanner danner makes you wish you could afford a scope with all the accesories.
I would need a wizzard marketeer to write a bussiness plan that can allow
me to buy such a scope. I am afraid that the home front won’t allow me.His videos are enlightning though.
Thanks for pointing me.

Already did that, Ebay and other “second hand” stores. Nothing though’ I then bought a haynes manual and the Dutch equivalent. These manuals are very good for experienced tech’s. I fear I am not one of those.
I love to read about tips and tricks. The simpler, the better.August 28, 2013 at 5:59 am #541088I read your post. I would say that you should not put any limitations on yourself. Keep working and improving and you will be suprised how far you will get.

Thanks for trying to stimulate me, much appreciated.
Reality has it that there are some limitations to my budget. That is why I hoped someone on this forum could tell me if that publication is any good. I do not want to sound as a cheap scate but I have a home front to which I have to account my spendings.
Anyway thanks for your concern.Sincerely,
Len

I highly recommend Scannerdanner’s ebook, and don’t be intimidated by his equipment. I have 4 scopes right now, a Pico 4 channel I bought used from an auction for $400.00, a OTC 2 channel Techscope (PC based) I bought off of craigslist for $250.00 and a uscope I bought new for $400.00. You can find scopes out there for cheap you just have to be patient and get real good at your google-fu.
This one I lucked into for free, widow asked me to haul it way.

Thanks for the advice, I, indeed, stumbled on Scanner’s book. I found there are hardcopies available too.
I’m just dreaming of such equipment right now. Although I recently bought a Velleman pc labscope second hand, for under €100.
Made my first signal visible, the primary of the ignition coil of my Fiat punto. 🙂 It is a two channel device and I am looking for a matching ampclamp.
Will have to wait a bit for my home front is a bit intimidated by my recent purchases.
Really cool acquiring such a great tool, that really is lucky to find such a scope. She must like you very much to give you such a present.Anyyway thanks for the advice, Scanner’s book is now on top of my shortlist.
Sincerely,
Len
October 12, 2013 at 8:34 am #549649It just takes time.
I sold almost all my tools years ago when the property the shop was on was sold. In the last 2 years I have almost replaced everything, buying used and taking my time to find the best price. And the best part NO TOOL MAN TO PAY WEEKLY!!!!!! I cant come close to demonstrating the difference this time around.
