      Hello All,

I just subscribed to the ECTG forum and this is my first post. I replaced the coolant on my 2009 Dodge Caliber 1.8L today (thanks Eric for recommending the Spill Free Funnel. It was invaluable.) I had the engine running at 2500 rpm with the front wheels off the ground bleeding the system and the ABS light came on. I’m assuming that this had something to do with the fact that the front wheels were turning a little bit, each at different rates (manual tranny), confusing the computer into thinking a wheel speed sensor was bad. While road testing the vehicle the ABS light went off. My question: does this mean the code has been cleared, too or is it still in there?

      Thanks,
      Brad

        No you are fine Brad.

The light came on because the back wheels were not turning. The ABS module thought there was an issue and lit the light, now that everything is fine the system cleared the light.

It depends on the year and the make/model but I think your car will erase the fault code when the light goes out.

Thanks guys. I was hoping everything was cleared out and that there were no issues. Glad to hear that.

Interesting – unless it was very cold where you were working the wheels shouldn’t be turning. In extreme cold conditions, like now where I live, the oil in the transmission will thicken to the point where you can get fluid coupling, sometimes enough to move the vehicle with the transmission in neutral.
