I think the tool that is described as an engine stopper has a use if you want to find tdc by using a degree wheel and the tool. To have it stop the rising piston turning by hand…check and zero the degree wheel….then rotate the engine in the opposite direction again by hand and note the difference of degrees between the two stop readings…find the middle point and that indicates the correct position for tdc.
