A week ago I replaced a leaking water pump and the timing belt. I have verified all vacuum hoses are attached and not leaking. All sensors are connected. I travel 45 min to work and 45 min back daily. I probably come to a stop light or sign 10 times each way. At one or two of those stops daily the engine will idle very low approx 250-300 rpm or less and idle becomes very shaky – one time it stalled but I immediately started engine and it idled at approx 750 rpm as it does on all other stops. I don’t imagine this is a coincidence but something I missed or banged/damaged on the tear down and repair this past Sunday. Any thoughts?

      Thanks,

      Milty

Did a search here and discovered I probably have air in the cooling system – I will bleed it this weekend and follow up. I am a bit nervous to loosen the bleeder – don’t want it to break off – I’ll soak it good first.

Removed air from system via bleeder- and for good measure replaced the thermostat – but I am experiencing the same problem – slow idle – just about stalls – intermittent. Please advise.

          Thanks,

The problem is at idle only? The car runs and drives fine otherwise?

Yup. Car behaved today. I’ll report back again tomorrow.

After installing the Tstat – I bleed the air out a second time. I have not had a low/stalling idle issue for two days. I think its fixed.

                  Thanks,
