Hello all
Car- 1994 g203 sedan Daihatsu Charade has a 1.5litre OHC 16v engine
KM-188,000ish i’ve had the car since about 150,000 don’t know miles comparison sorry
Loooong story for a while now after sitting for a period of time it will crank but wont start i think it used to even within in 5min time periods say park it go into someones house come back out wont start as a example i think its over that though
I fixed it for quite a while by throwing in a set of plugs, after a auto electrician looked at it and told me they pulled a distributor code but i thought id pass on that and new plugs fixed it until recently… (done plugs round 175,000? maybe don’t remember they aren’t to old)
I was suss on fuel pressure trying to sit with the key on turn on/off/on/off etc and try start it, works sometimes was using 98 octane but now its on 91, the car has been overheated before i got it and i’ve done a compression test on it which seemed ok i don’t remember exact something like 180,165,180,170 psi across cylinders, don’t think its the battery either because its not terribly old
But last night as i was (trying) to leave for work it wouldn’t start no matter what so my mum and brother came out to push as i let the clutch out and bam it started… (didnt need to push it far at all just moved it and let the clutch out sort of a clutch start if you want to call it that but on my driveway) and started fine leaving work this morning approx 8hrs later after turning it off, i worked overnight 10pm-6am might help picture how long it was sitting for
Soooo i’m stumped, the only thing i can think of may be the cause could be the timing??? im pretty sure its a degree or so out advanced… i think not sure ill check it when i have use of a timing light next, but i don’t even know if the timing could cause this, possibility? because when it was overheated it had a replacement head gasket
I think my book is finished(no doubt i missed something that somone will pick up on) thanks for reading hope someone can shed some light on this issue not urgent though ive got by for a while now with it but need to find its issue eventually
