After renewing all the fuel and brake lines some time ago due to rusting out where they come out of the cage at the rear I am now getting a problem with the charcoal canister in the engine bay dripping fuel out the bottom when the car is running with an obvious smell of gasoline. It seems like fuel is being sucked through the vent pipe into the canister which I believe should be only fumes I’m not sure exactly how the system is supposed to work but somethings not right and when I took the car for a run it started to miss fire every now and again which the car has never ever done before.I was wondering if the miss fire was related to the purge valve opening perhaps and sucking additional fuel into the manifold.can anyone tell me what the system is supposed to do and what might have gone wrong, can this be caused by overfilling the fuel tank and what can be done to rectify the problem.
ps the car had a new coil in the distributer a short time ago so I doubt its a spark problem
Thanks in anticipation Tegranut
