My first post on the forum, I am an old 1960’s mechanic and things have sure changed since back then. It is interesting to see how these new machines are put together.

I am at this time replacing the intake gasket on my wife’s car. 86,000 miles and already the intake gasket is gone. I read online that this is a common problem with 2000 Nissans with about the same miles. Getting the manifold off is a real treat to say the least. In the process I am also replacing the valve cover gasket, the outer CV boots as one is busted, and I am replacing the belts. So far I have enjoyed this exercise but now it is getting cold and I want to get it done.

Back in the 60’s I was a mechanic and also worked at Memphis Engine Rebuilders boring and honing blocks, working heads and building motors. Thanks for having me aboard.

      Jim

Welcome to the forums Jim, yes they’ve come a long way since the 60’s where there was a couple wires and a few bolts and then engine was out. Lots more too it! Lots of help available here for any of your needs.
