My first post on the forum, I am an old 1960’s mechanic and things have sure changed since back then. It is interesting to see how these new machines are put together.
I am at this time replacing the intake gasket on my wife’s car. 86,000 miles and already the intake gasket is gone. I read online that this is a common problem with 2000 Nissans with about the same miles. Getting the manifold off is a real treat to say the least. In the process I am also replacing the valve cover gasket, the outer CV boots as one is busted, and I am replacing the belts. So far I have enjoyed this exercise but now it is getting cold and I want to get it done.
Back in the 60’s I was a mechanic and also worked at Memphis Engine Rebuilders boring and honing blocks, working heads and building motors. Thanks for having me aboard.
