      hi all
im going to do the valves on my 99 accord as i have a rattle more noticable when cold than hot.
      is .006 tighter than .007?
I think not because .007 is a smaller gap so it would leave the valve face snugger to the head.ie better sealing valve.
am i right or have i this completly wrong?
      cheers:S

Higher the number, the bigger the gap.

Think of spark plug gaps – 0.030 is a smaller gap than 0.040.

So would it be better have the intake at .007 and then .006 should not fit

You’re never going to get it that close as the clearances you’re talking about are smaller than a human hair. So you are literally splitting hairs on this one. You run the vales so that they have a ‘slight’ amount of drag on the gauge and that’s that. If you still have a problem with noise after you’ve checked and rechecked them check the timing belt tension. A loose timing belt can make for a noisy valve train and also distributor.
