Here is how to pull codes on that system without access to a scan tool.
First make sure you check the Ignition fuse and the trunk/hvac fuse. Both should have power when the key is on. In the wiring diagram below you see the fuses going to C12 and C13 on the HVAC control module.
November 19, 2013 at 7:16 am #557879THE BLOWER MOTOR IS ON HIGH AND I HAVE NO DISPLAY OR CONTROL ALSO CLUSTER DISPLAY IS OUT
November 19, 2013 at 7:30 am #557891🙂 If you could provide some more information, we may be able to help you look for answers. Is this problem happening with the engine running ? Do your headlights work ?
You may find that the instrument cluster on this Auto is not very reliable and may need to be repaired. Most of the times a circuit board fails on this type of vehicle or the instrument panel power control which on back of the instrument cluster.
If you are able and feel competent enough to do your own work, then I would get a 12 volt test probe and a volt/ohm meter and do some research. You may be able to find some repair manuals at your local library as this is now not a common automobile. Good Luck.November 19, 2013 at 7:31 am #557893If the display being out is a new problem than you need to check those fuses first, without power the unit will not come on.
Oh and your caps lock is on, tends to send the wrong message on forums. All caps usually means mad or yelling.
November 19, 2013 at 5:24 pm #557957thank you for the advice, and i’m sorry that cap lock is on. i wasn’t yelling, i thought it looked good and easier to read. i saw a little smoke in the steering column when started the car. i can’t control any of the climate controls. before i pull apart the dash, would the bcm control the cluster or climate control?
November 19, 2013 at 6:14 pm #557960It looks like the HVAC module is on the serial buss line with the other modules. I would worry about the smoke issue, start with checking all the fuses and see if any are blown. If there are blown fuses it should point to which circuits are an issue.
November 19, 2013 at 6:54 pm #557966that was the 1st thing i checked all fuses were fine
November 20, 2013 at 12:47 am #557985Then you might need to go into the dash and column and start looking for melted wires or any other sign of over current damage.
November 20, 2013 at 2:18 am #558009see if this helps you. Your climate control could be off due to
the digital dash being out. This will disable things. You need to get
the instrument cluster back first. Then we can see if any codes are stored.http://www.justanswer.com/gm/1vr0j-1994-cadillac-instrument-panel-information.html
