I couldn’t find a discussion on this video. Ever since I heard about the problem with Honda transmissions from the late 90s and early 2000s, its plagued my mind. “What is making these transmissions burn up?”
The answer, “It is a bad design” never really satisfied me, and having a 2000 3.2 TL, I am more than likely to run into this problem, so I decided to learn about the problem as much as I could.
Eric, I’m not sure if you’re still in the process of rebuilding your transmission on your Odyssey, but I stumbled across a video that claims to fix the problem.
I understand that it is a long video, but I believe it is worth every minute. What I gathered from the video is this:
The main pressure regulator valve for some reason gets stuck in its bore in the closed position, and does not allow fluid to flow into the converter charge circuit which results in a converter that starves for fluid and burns out.
