I have a 1995 honda civic SOHC 1.5 4cyl automatic, I recently had the ignitor in my distributor just stop working, I went to my mechanic and he had an old ignitor in his shed. I installed it and it started working 2 days later the car died again while driving the old part ignitor stop working as well. I want to know if there can be something else causing the ignitor to stop working or did it stop just because it was old. Addition info I had an old alternater and it stop working like 3 weeks prior the ignition problem, I took the alternator from a old Intrega and used that. You think that may be the problem starter?

It’s possible that the igniter you installed was just old. After you get it running again it would be a good idea to check the battery voltage with the engine running to be sure it’s not more than 15v.

Replace your spark plugs, wires, distributor rotor and cap if you haven’t already. I think if those components are old, they could be putting excess strain on the igniter.. and ^ check that voltage as well.

          Good luck
