Hello again forum my question for today is is it very diffacult to change the ignition key cylinder on my 1994 gmc silverado im talking about the key that starts the truck. Its so worn out and it needs replaced. I bought the tools to take off the steering wheel.Just wondering if anyone has done this before that could offer some tips. Thanks

remove steering wheel , remove the lock plate next ( will need the tool that compresses the plate so you can remove the retaining ring ) loosen tool and remove lock plate. now you can get to the lock cylinder. usually held in with 1-2 screws ( sometimes torx head ) take out the fasteners and remove bad lock/key cylinder ( note the rod that runs down the inside of the steering column ) install new cyl and attach rod. use lock plate tool to compress plate and install retaining ring. add steering wheel and done.
