I’ve been doing some work on my friends 2005 Ford Taurus and I have run across a weird idle problem that I have yet to find the solution to. When you start it its warmed up and everything the tachometer bounces for about 30 to 40 seconds before settling. Also when driving it occasionally stalls when you first push the gas peddle. Just yesterday when I put it into park to go get my scan tool the rpms spiked to 3500 rpm and stayed there till I gave it gas then it stalled again. The guy before me replaced the idle air control which didn’t do anything. There are no codes and all the live data looks normal and there are no codes. Also very dangerous because I almost got t-boned in an intersection when it stalled half way through on my way to my hybrid and alternative fuels class for automotive.
