idle/ power issues! Hyundai Elantra ASAP

Going to keep it simple! When i start the car (or any other time its in part (hot or cold)) the car idles high! AROUND 1500-2000 when i put it in drive or reverse it drops to about 8-900 rpms! Then when i flip the ac on it kills it! I can drive around town all day with the ac on, but once i stop i have to turn the ac off, or the car dies… please help asap, bc i have a big trip soon! (1994 dohc 16valve)

It sounds like a IAC problem/dirty throttle body.
Try cleaning the throttle body and IAC and passages.
Before you take anything apart check for vacuum leaks.
Is the check engine light on? if so post any codes.

It does sound like an IAC issue. I’d also check for vacuum leaks as suggested. More info at the links posted above.
