Hi everyone, I have a 08 Honda Civic and I just replaced my high pressure power steering line. When I’m at it, I just clean my throttle body also. After everything done, I took it for a test drive and I noticed that when first start the engine, my idle is kinda high about 1.7 rpm. When I got to a stop, and then release the gas paddle with just a little bit of pressure on gas paddle, the idle suddently jump up high then down, but only happen one time. After the engine warm up and I got to a stop, my idle slowly go from 1.2 to 0.7 rpm (at a completed stop). I also notice the engine rev more than normal.

Is my throttle body broken? I did clean some of them on different cars and it just work fine. After everything was put back together, I start the engine and listen for hissing sound, none was found. I’m thinking about buying new throttle body but I wanna make sure first. Please help, thank you so much in advance.

I’m wondering if the throttle cable is installed correctly, it may have come off during your cleaning so the first thing I would check is to see if the cable is routed properly. Other than that it’s a matter of trying to figure out if it’s a problem with a vacuum leak or a component failure. If it was a component failure I would think it would set a code however but considering it happened just after you did work on the system I would say go back and check your work as it’s the most likely cause of the problem. Good luck.

No code, no engine light. I did pull the cable kinda hard to get it off, may be the wire got disconnected. Is there any tool that can check to see if all wires or cables are good and what is it called?
            Thanks guys.

is it an auto or a manual? what happens if it is in neutral? when i cleaned the throttle body on my car, the idle would jump all over from 1000 to 2300 rpms if it was in neutral and would shift into second without me touching the gas if it was in drive. after a bit of driving, it ran like it should. it did start shaking and set off a cel though but now it runs perfectly
