2004 Subaru Forester X
2.5L non-turbo boxer engineWhile removing cylinder heads (motor in the car), I raised up the engine to get better access to the heads, and so I could shift the engine a little to my left to get to the driver side head. both lower motor mounts and the “dogbone” upper mount was disconnected. After lifting, When I tried to shift the engine a little to the left the car started to roll backwards about half a foot. I now believe I overextended the inner joint on the drivers side. The boot is intact, but I can feel something inside it, so I seems something did pop out. I don’t know how these are constructed, Does anyone know, and can this be popped back in somehow without disassembling the joint? So far I can’t get the engine to shift back to it’s place, it is quite a bit over to the left now, which leads me to think it isn’t aligned inside correctly.
