      Hello,

I am in need of some help with a diesel engine please.

Vehicle : 2002 Renault Kangoo 1.5dci k9k engine, commonrail delphi fuel system, 108,000 miles

Here is some info about the van:

The van was purchased as a non-runner to learn abit more about commonrail, However i am at a loss now with it.

When i first got the van i have used brake cleaner to get it to kick over so i would get readings from sensors etc through live data.

So after diagnosing the fuel pump, a more modern style pump from a 2004 kangoo was sourced, The van then had 4 reconditioned injectors and they all leak off the same amount of fuel.

The van has had the fuel tank and all the common rail H/P pipe work removed and cleaned due to the common problems of these vans with the diesel pumps breaking up and filling the fuel system with swarf.

The fuel system was then put back on with a new fuel filter and diesel tank swilled out with diesel etc and fresh diesel poured in aswell as a new fuel pressure regulating valve for the diesel pump.

Then i had it running with some blue and white smoke. So the turbo was then removed and rebuilt using a seal kit, the turbo is a KP35 turbo. The turbo has been refitted and no oil weaping past the turbine shaft or filling the Egr/pipework with oil. The turbo spools up nice and as far as i can see it’s not hitting the housing when on fast idle and revved above.

The van runs with no Eml or glow plug lights on and on live data at idle the diesel pump is measuring 220-230 bar of pressure.

I don’t know whether the van will smoke at temp but i will find out tonight and report back.

The van from cold after left idling for a minute or so is revved on to fast idle or even at normal idle will smoke white, it’s only light smoke at idle but then more at fast idle and above with a slight blue tinge and i mean slight.

There is no oil or water mixing as far as i am aware and it’s doesn’t look like the van is using water. I will also do a head gasket test tonight and report back with some more information.

Let me know what you all think etc.

      Kind Regards

      Luke Robinson
