Hey guys my name is Chad i am 18 years old. Can anybody give me some pointers on getting a entry level auto tech job? I took Auto shop in high school and was the teachers assistant for the elective class for 3 years. I am attending the local community college taking Automotive Technolgy classes to get a career in being a Automotive technician. I have a 4.0gpa at the college and above average intellegence. I have experience working on cars. Everytime my familes car brake pads or needs repairs i fix it. Ive torn car and dirtbike engines apart, rebuilt them etc. I bought a 1964 Chevy truck with a 327 for $500 and ive been restoring it. I adjusted the valves, took out the points distributor and installed a HEI. Did a brake job and new alternator on it. Put a Holley 600CFM Carb on it and tuned it myself. Set up a electric fan setup from a junkyard all by myself. Took off the three on the tree and Did a 4 speed overdrive automatic TH-200-4R transmission all by myself. I know what im doing when it comes to cars. I go to Junkyards all the time. My teachers say i am very bright. I Attend lots of motorsports and car shows. I do all i can to be an active part in this industry but just cant seem to get a job in this economy. Its making me really depressed and feel like i dont have a purpose in life. I have a hard time making eye contact and socializing. I have Attention Deficit Disorder. I dont have any friends or adults to support me in finding a career. I turn in about 100 applications per month. I turn in lots of applications to entry level jobs like Valvoline instant oil change centers and all the Jiffy lubes. Maybe its because i have Aspergers syndrome. I am a high school dropout but in the job interviews that i have had they never ask me if i have a high school diploma so i dont think thats the reason i cant find employment
