I have a 2004 civic lx with 220,000 miles on it. This just started recently. When I am outside the car and I hit the lock button on my key fob, the passenger door will lock, and sometimes but not always, the drivers door will lock as well (about 1 out of 10 tries). Ive done some searching and Im at a loss. The door will lock and unlock by physically hitting the switch on the door, so the actuator is working. The dome light turns on and off with the door, so the door jam switch is also working. The lights use to flash when i locked the car with the fob and they no longer do that, however the horn will still beep on the second press. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks.

it may be your drives lock actuator going bad. see if this helps.

220k, nice. Your third party lock system is a piece of shit (unless you got it after you bought the car, then I might be a piece of shit). Have you tried squirting some WD-40 on the hinge to see if it releases? PB-Blaster works too. If it works, let it dry, then gently grease it up and you’ll be set for another 100k unless it’s the long handle giving you problems.

The actuators do tend to get weak over time. You could get a new one or you could first pull the door panel and see if the rods inside are binding up making it hard for the actuator. If the lock moves smoothly, replace the actuator and you should be good to go. A little grease in the lock wouldn’t hurt either.
