I have a 2003 Chevy S-10 pickup with a 4-cylinder, manual trans. It runs fine and has no active engine codes, although the catalyst monitor is incomplete. I cannot pass smog without all monitors complete, even though the emission out of the tail pipe passes. I’ve driven it on at least 5 “drive cycles” in order to clear it, but it is not working. The drive cycle consist of starting a cold motor and let idle for 3 minutes. Drive steady at 55mph for 3 minutes, then decelerate down to 20. Repeat drive at 55mph for 5 minutes. Is this the correct drive cycle I should be doing? Could there be a problem that is preventing the monitor from clearing? I did have incomplete O2 monitors, but they cleared after I replaced both O2 sensors. I’m wondering if my cat converter is bad.

It seems like your doing the test right. see if this suggests something different.

I had the same problem in the State of CA. I pulled the battery cable left it off for about 5 minutes. Theory behind that is sort of like rebooting a computer. Anyway after driving for about a week all sensors responded properly and passed smog. I personally don’t subscribe to the drive cycle stuff. Many techs at dealership say its bunk. Some do however get lucky with the drive cycles, but not many.

Your right. I gave up on the drive cycle and just started driving it normally to work (100 miles per day).
I checked 2 days later and they finally cleared.
