Hello All my automotive friends,

Hope all is well.. Anyone see much on the electronic power steering on the 2007 Hyundai Elantras?
Have a friend that has one and the power steering locks up on her or gets tighter at times..

I did some research and found lots of complaints on this with all sorts of different years with very few results of being solved.. And no sign of a recall ever

Feels very very like loose, and touchy when driving, Almost like to dangerous kind of touchy…

She has had the whole steering column replaced because of a sensor in it with no results…

Also has issues sometimes goes to take a big turn and has to end up backing up to correct because it takes it to wide ..

Any thoughts on what anyone has seen, or experienced with that electronic steering?

Don’t want to leave anyone hanging

I talked to the lady last night and she has not even contacted the dealer…

Anyway, She did have front wheel speed sensor codes she was telling me about, I did not read those codes, But she said her engine light has gone off and all the sudden the steering feels wayyyy better, And since then has not came back on…

Interesting for sure, i try to research the Electronic power steering as i have never experienced that, but i believe the front wheel speed sensors can affect the electronic power steering…

Quite interesting guys, If i hear from her any more i will let you all know..

Either she had it repaired somewhere else and didn’t want to hurt your feelings or it really did repair itself.

Don’t think so Wysetech
i have done alot for her, But this car was a purchase from a used car lot and they gave her a 30 day warrenty…
so she kept having issues with it and asking me questions, So im honest with people and told her im not familiar with ELS steering but i sure would research it for her…
It is something though all the stuff i have read in regards to those cars with that set up

Thanks for the update. Sounds to me like I need to do some reading up on electric power steering systems for Hyundai’s. I’m confused on how a wheel speed sensor can effect it.

I googled electronic power steering and was reading how it works, Could have sworn it mentioned that in it..
I plan on reading up on it more also, the electronic power steering control module gets info from various sensors and i saw wheel speed sensors mentioned

Hello All

Well, She had an issue with her battery few days ago, She needed battery shims…
Every since, Her ETS issue seems to be resolved…
But, Those ETS control modules cant have any kind of power fluctuations i guess it will mess with the electronic power steering…
Unreal, Thought id update all of you, Even the link that college man posted mentioned the ETS control module and power..

Battery post shims College man,

You can put shims around the post to supply a better connection
