Hydrolocked?

      i read a few topics closely to my problem but none say exactly. just differnt random stuff closely related…

      Had the motor swap for a few months now, drove from El Paso to Houston 800+ miles, many more afterwards. No problem whatsoever.

      the other day, i was on my way to get a rad support, drove all the way to the tollway then the car bogged like if i was low on gas. (i was over 3/4). quickly i turned around just in case. then making the u-turn i took the side road (many stops) and it happened even more dramatically. More and more like if i had no gas. Gas pedal floored and hesitated until after 3k rpms. then went ok.

      stopped driving my car for a week (no money) tried to start and it wouldnt anymore. I have to hold the gas pedal all the way down for several seconds and it’ll kinda start but incredibly low idly until i hold the gas down and it finally reaches over 3k and then it seems ok.

      i made a few videos to kinda give an idea but idk. im thinking of getting a new oem distributor since ETCG seems to recommend that left and right lol

      please i dont want to get rid of my baby… =(

      things ive checked for
      cam, crank timing
      distributor timing w/timing light
      fuel pump
      fuel filter
      changed map sensor
      resetted ecu
      compression is 240ish all the way trough
      put an aem fuel rail with a fuel pressure gauge and it reads 24ish when turned off, 42ish when trying to start or when on
      changed fuel rails
      checked injectors
      check spark plugs and theyre black but have been since day 1 (untuned ecu)
      carbed vacuum lines
      cleaned and replaced IACV gasket
      checked fuses in and out
      ……
      finally took the car to Honda and they got it to start idling normal but died and the tech didnt tell the advisor what he did to get it on. By the time i got there to pick up my car, tech was gone home. all they recommended was to fix my exhaust leak?

      so im at a dead end…anyone???

        Clean the plugs or replace them.

          ok just finished putting new spark plugs…had checked them before and they were just blacked with carb, now theyre full of oil im guessing thats the valve cover gasket but i cleaned it out and starting cranking…nothing yet…started the flooded engine procedure and it seemed like little by little it was working but when i stopped cranking, my intake farted that smoke again….

            I would start with a cyl leak down test for all cyl. with the blow back you are getting through the t/body I would guess a valve train or valve timing prob ( t-belt may have jump a few teeth )

              To me I’m thinking you should start by checking the mechanical timing as well because it does seem like a timing issue. Honda’s don’t like aftermarket ignition parts and it looks like you have a lot of them. Perhaps there’s an issue with the ignition system but I would check the timing belt first and see if the marks are lined up. After that perhaps a compression test to make sure that you have good compression on all the cylinders.

              When something is ‘hydrolocked’ it means that the cylinder has filled with liquid, gas, water, it doesn’t matter but the result is the same, the engine cannot move because one or more of the cylinders are filled with water or some other liquid. When this happens it usually means a bent or broken connecting rod. In summery, this is not the condition you have.

                omg Eric, bro you did it again. ive been watching for awhile and fixing many things, the MSD dizzy i had has a pin that holds some rotor with two teeth that fit in the cam shaft, it was broken. replaced with oem and it started so quickly, it didnt even crank. idk if thats bad but i didnt use a timing light yet, ill get that done soon. but it definetly works even better than before. I thank you sir.

                    things changed eric. sorry for the bother im sure yall really busy trying to answer everyone question. ill be patient and wait.

                    changed the msd ignition distributor to B16a2 OEM distributor. Ran PERFECT… then couple days of driving to work, code 9 came on. Cylinder Position Sensor. Distributor timing and engine timing are all set. now with that code, wont rev over 7000ish. Could it be the chipped ecu im running? maybe burned out already and trying to run single cam base map?

                      Exactly why do you even need to rev to 7000 rpm? Do you want to blow your motor up?

                        So your plugs were covered in oil? Like in the spark plug wells where the boots go? Or the tips? If there is oil in the wells then yes this is from the small circle gaskets in the valve cover. Did you fix the gasket so that it no longer will leak oil into there? Let me know.
