Bought my ’93 Lancer (Mirage) used and with no cold air at all coming from the hvac system but the heat works just fine. The fan and blower work and I’m hoping that it simply needs a recharge.

So my question is if the system had a leak (which would have caused it to empty) would it have any effect on the Heat at all? I would just like to know before I bring it in for pressure and leak testing and the whole shebang.

I have watched all the videos eric has on the hvac and I may be mistaken but I never heard mention of an open/leaky system affecting how or if the Heat works.

      Just for Reference.

There are no mobile heat pump systems (that I know of). Your AC is completely self-contained. As is the heating. Just like having gas/propane/radiator and AC in a house. The only common fail points are at the blower and beyond(venting).

Yes the AC evaporator and heater core are part of 2 different systems in the HVAC. As for AC work please use sensible, legal practices when performing service on the AC system.
