I have two 1500 pick ups (2000 Chevy Silverado and 2002 GMC Sierra) and neither blow air very hard through vents, defroster, floor (heating or air conditioning) –compared to my 2006 1500 which blows really hard. The two with week air flow you can here the blower motors run, when you go from 1 -5 the motor speeds up and temperatures change when you go from heat to cool. It sounds like the blower is blowing lots of air but not going anywhere–sound like its blowing into the fire wall right behind the glove box where the blower motor is located. I read to check fuses (all good), disconnect battery for 5 minutes (didn’t do anything), check voltage (ground wire) and look for burnt wires to the blower motor (tomorrow), replace the blower motor (read a lot of people have done this and it didn’t change anything), and replace the heating AC actuator. If the 2006 where close, I would try it in both to see if it made a difference.

This seems to be a common problem and I do not want to just start replacing things until I stumble across the problem. Any suggestions or words of wisdom would be great. Thanks in advance.

I would check to see if the vents are fully opening and the vent tubes coming from your heater box to the vents for any blockages.

Check that your cabin air filter is not clogged.

Thank you college man. Replaced the cabin filters which had never been changed and it made a world of difference. $9.00 dollar fix–filters were on sale 40% off.
