guys I got a weird problem with my Hyundai accent 2005

One day out of nowhere when I left from home backing from the driveway my car car made a big grinding noise from the back… At first I thought the car had hit the ground since my driveways in angle… But the sound came back a couple times but only when steering to the right.. Went to the garage the dude couldn’t figure it out… So decided to check by myself… Removed the left tire checked the drum… Its in pretty bad shape its all rusted and crumbling into pieces never seen one like this… When turning it it made a similar sound… Could it be the drum that makes that grinding noise ? Do i only need to change this piece? Ill leave a video i did so you can see the quality is really bad since it was a mms but thats all o have… Thanks guys

before you go and put money in changing parts take it to a competent mechanic and have them check it. 390.00 for me is a big gamble just to guess. I only say this because in your video you are showing the noise and the strut is not really doing anything. I am sorry you are having so much trouble but try to find someone that can help you figure it out. now for the price, i can not tell you if that is good or bad but what I would do is get a couple of estimates form places you trust. Good luck and take it one step at a time.

Given that the noise happens when you rotate the brake drum it’s very unlikely to have anything to do with the struts. I still recommend you look in the area where the drum rides in a groove in the backing plate. Any corrosion or dirt here can produce noise. In fact, I’ve seen it quite often. Lastly, this article I wrote may help you nail down where the noise is coming from.

Hey thanks for your help guys
The problem was solved by changing the struts and didnt cost much, around 300$ for new ones installed so yeah ! Thanks again for your help
