I’ve realized the hub bearings on my car are junk and I will get to do them again soon. Honestly, staking a hub nut with a hammer and punch/chisel may have been fun when I was a kid. But now, I’m older, and have better things to do. I have a few friends with similar cars and get asked if I want to do them several times a year. I’m torn between Mopar’s $240-$300 tool for staking. Or just a set that will attach to my air hammer.
Mopar’s https://www.moparessentialtools.com/item-detail.aspx?itemid=4620002&type=tools
The air hammer set: https://store.snapon.com/Staked-Axle-Nut-Punches-Set-Staked-Axle-Nut-Punch-P857203.aspx
I chose to show the snapon’s since the “generic” ones on amazon are the same price.
Which tools would you guys go with?
