I know there’s a lot of guys who are pretty anal about their cars. but I’m the opposite. My girlfriend drives my 04 impala and I took it to walmart last night….let’s just say she wasn’t really happy with what I had to say when I got home. 3 k over on lof, low tires, rotor are way outta whack. I spend a good portion of the day at work fixing those as well as replacing the f axles. My yukon’s tires are bald, that’s next ca-ching 🙁

Do you guys keep your cars way up, or are you too worn down?

My accord needs some oil leaks fixed, and always needs another balljoint..
In the last year i changed just about every balljoint, and did the front axles.
Every time i think im done, theres something else…
And now i bought a second car that’s over 25 years old.

Otherwise though, i keep my car(s) in showroom condition. The Pontiac needs paint, but is otherwise bone stock and just about showroom. The Accord is bone stock and needs a bit of cosmetic work before being showroom worthy.
I try to keep my 2007 Caravan in the best condition possible. I usually buy my vehicles used but under 100.00Kl (60.000 Mi) and 5 years. I change all of the lube fluids to synthetic, rustproof them and drive em to the grave.

The last 2 vehicles I had for 14 years each.
Sounds like me. My vehicle is a 20 year old S-10 that runs and drives perfectly.

Well my 87 Camaro needs new u joints, and I need to find out why it will run at normal temp at speeds below 60, but get hotter when speed increases. Doesn’t overheat just gets a little hotter than normal. As far as My 99 Saturn SC1 I need to change the coolant, change the fuel filter, and other general preventive service to it. I am really starting to fall in love with this Saturn. I have had it since March and it has never missed a beat. After sitting for almost 3 years all I did was change the oil, put a new set of tires, and replaced the motor mount that is it.

If you hate her car and your wallet, keep going there. I do tend to procrastinate on my own vehicle for things I know I can get away with. But the woman has an 07 Camry specifically so I need to do nothing to it and can deal with my rusty 90 Bronco. Yep, I have a $60,000 toolset and a $1000 daily driver. But it is safe and runs well.

If I wanted to destroy my cars or at least be misled by people who do not know what they speak of, I would go to Wally World. I had to go there and argue it out with them the other day for a friend who had a bad battery. Third WM battery warrantied in 3 years, all for shorted cells because they are built like pure garbage. I personally tested it and it failed for a shorted cell. They claimed it was good and the car was at fault. When I asked the man if they were using a carbon pile load tester or a conductance type of tester he replied “Now you’re bringing out all this technical jargon that doesn’t make any sense. We use a battery simulator here.” What the hell is a battery simulator? They claimed to have actually taken the battery out, but its an 01 Intrepid where you have to pull a tire and take it through the fender. They claimed to have tested it outside the car and it was fine. I call bullshit. Went to O’Reilly who not only confirmed the shorted cell on their tester but sold me a battery the actually works. Wal-Mart still refuses to warranty their proven garbage battery and blames the fact that my customer has subwoofers for the failure.

My customer has learned the error of his ways and will never let WM touch his car again. I told him if I ever found out he did, I would only work on it for double my rate. He knows I am not kidding.
