I have been watching the ETCG youtube videos for probably over 2 years. only today decided to register here.
posting here (in the new members section) cus i wanna ask a question about the forum, and…. well for anyone interested in reading, i’ll tell you guys of about my experience as a DIYer and the things i have done around cars in the past.
to start.
I was looking in the profile, tryiing to find out about how to put my signature in my posts and cant find it.
I am assuming this forum has the common features most online forums i have seen have, like putting my location in the profile, add a custom signature and those litle things.
so if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be appreciated.About me.
well. 27 years old Software engineer. no education at all in mechanics. just another DIYer trying to save a few bucks.
I have (at time of posting) 3 cars. 2 toyota celicas. one the 1.8 engine, and the second is a 2 litre JDM GT4, the third car is a Lotus Elan SE M100previous experience as a mechanic includes plenty of work “restoring” the Lotus elan in the past year and a bit,
jobs on it include
painting the whole bodywork yellow (used to be blue) this included taking most of the panels out
Bleeding brake system
refurbishing alloys
diagnose electrical issue around the radiator fans, and fixing the ground that was not working
replace the heater valve
replace one of the tubes that move coolant around (dont know the technical term for it)
swap rubber dust boots for the lower ball joint in both front wheels, and the steering arm
diagnose and fix issue with electrics in the headlights.
replace the dipped beam enclosure.
DIY making a customised spoiler with a 3rd brake light (work that i a most proud of, as it looks like stock… if stock existed in the UK with a 3rd brake light)
replaced the interior of the door cards, from carpet to leather covers.
installed LED ghost lights in the doors.
door speakers replaced
installed a remote door lock system
installed a remote boot open solenoid
install after-market radio
install dedicated USB charger which can be on even without ignition.
install rear view camera
