Hello everyone, i have a Honda Civic Hatchback 2005 1590 iVTEC Petrol Automatic and i have done some damage on the front panel and radiator. i am considering removing it my self and fitting a new one. I know its not an easy job therefore i would like to know if there is a “how to guide” on how to remove the front panel?

I know how to remove the front bumper which is the easy part but i have no idea how hard it is to replace a front panel. Is it even possible to replace the front panel with out taking the whole car apart?

please see the link below to understand what i mean by the front panel

its the metal frame at the front of the car where the radiator is fixed on, also the front lights are fixed on the radiator.

I’m not a body guy, So i can’t tell you what it would take. All you can do is judge where
any fasteners would go and start removing.

That panel is not really a job an ordinary person would be able to replace themselves. I am pretty certain it is welded to the other parts of the subframe and would need to be cut off and rewelded. The fenders would also have to come off with the front bumper, bumper reinforcment, ac condensor, and the radiator.

I don’t know your skill levels so I can’t say whether or not you should try it yourself, but I would not recommend jumping into this job if you haven’t done any welding, painting, or ac work before. You could cost yourself more money in the long run if you have to pay someone to fix your mistakes.

          Hope this helps

As a general rule of thumb, if there isn’t a video on YouTube about it… You probably shouldn’t try it yourself.

hello guys and thank you for your replies, well i am a bit skilled, i once totally rebuild by brothers dune buggy and also replaced the engine piston however if there is welding involved i think i will pass on this one. I will try a different garage since this is the insurance garage and they tend to be very expensive.

They are not that hard to replace. But they are usually spot welded in. You can see those by looking for the little weld divots. It generally involves drilling the weld through one layer only. But if you have never touched a welder it is best to take it in as you never know if there is any stress which could make alignment of the new one challenging.
