How to remove the floor mat hook

How do I remove the floor mat hook from the drivers side on my 2005 Ford Freestar? I bought some Weathertech mats and they don’t use the factory hook.

Something wrong then. Either a mistake was made ordering or
they gave you the wrong mats. These should have come with the
hole/hook. Give them a call.

I did call and they said to remove the factory one as they use their own hooks.

Thats weird because I bought them for my Altima and they used the
existing mat holder. They is supposed to be no modification as they
are laser fitted to the vehicle. I would send them back. are these
your mats? according to the installation you should use the factory
mat hold downs or install the supplied if you don’t have factory hooks. #3

You didn’t get the All Weather Mats, you have the Floorliner which is a different product.

What kind of hook comes with the WTech mats? Have you thought about modifying the mat instead of removing a factory installed part? How well will the WTech hook work without the factory hook? I’m in the market for mats for my 08 Expedition but WTech digital liners only have 3 color choices.
Looking at the Lloyds Ultimat or Velourtex also. $300 for rubber Weathertech liners is a bit steep and can get Lloyds for $160-200.
