This video sort of came to me one day when I was at the shop. I thought, why not make a video about how to get valves out of a cylinder head? After digging up the tools I came up with this. How about you, do you have a special way of doing valve work?

Have you used the kind of tool where you bolt down the tool on the opposite side of the head, and then you use the leverage to compress the spring?
It has something like the compressor part on the first tool you showed, but its located on somewhere in the middle of a long bar, and on the far end is where you bolt it into the head.

I’ve used it, but I’m a bit leery about putting that much lateral force on aluminum parts. So I mounted mine on my bench.

I know of that tool but I’ve never used one. Looks like it would work fine.

              great video eric

i have done this once myself only with the clamp style compressor and i plan to fix up a cylinder head i have soonish and i had my doubts that a clamp style would work on the springs seeing they are recessed in the cylinder head so thank you for bring that second kind of tool to my attention
