My tools are kept in a tool box that sits in a garage with no heat. And since I live in the northeast the temps will soon begin to swing from 50-60 during the day to 20’s at night. This will cause my box and tools to sweat, which in turn will cause them to rust. Anybody have any ideas on how to minimize the rusting without heating the garage?

Don’t keep them in a box.

It’s colder here and tools on walls and on wooden drawers of cold garage newer rust. If your tools fit in the tool box then I would just take it inside. Oiling the tools will also keep them from rusting and its good idea anyways for some tools.

Spray the tools with wd-40 This will help. They also sell silica gel
              to absorb moisture.

Get yourself a can of silicone and wipe them with a light coat before you put them away, this will last a lone time.

I have the same problem every spring. I try not to leave the garage open those rainy 50 degree days and sometimes set up a heater to blow on my tool box. Once the tools are a little warm they won’t sweat.

I thought about finding a way to install a heater in my tool box. It would be nice to have warm tools on cold days too.
