You may also want to try changing the transaxle fluid with OEM only Honda fluid._x000D_

changing the transmission fluid may help a little if its hard to get into gear also if you blip the throttle that will probably make it easier when downshifting and some people do that with old cars when shifting normally.

I would start with a trans fluid change with Honda fluid.

It’ll be the syncros for sure if changing the fluid helps. Although, the friction modifiers will probably wear out fast and adjusting your shifting habits as outdoorsman mentioned is a good way to help the worn syncros via rev matching.

I know not every one’s a fan but I really like the Lucas Stop Slip! When you change the fluid one of the quarts should be the Lucas stuff then the other two should be the Honda Tans fluid. The Lucas stuff works wonders. My sisters car wouldn’t go past 200

Lucas stop slip (transmission fix) is not designed for synchronized manual transmissions. AFAIK._x000D_

The issue isn’t needing a thicker fluid, the issue is worn sychros which only GOOD friction modifiers designed for the materials the sychros are made of gi

Sorry for not providing an update yet, but I will once I get around to changing the fluid. I’ve been doing tons of other work on the car and want to change the oil, transmission fluid, oil filter, and both fuel filters all at the same time once the car is

and for a 2nd vehicle your sure giving it more attention than some of your dealers would. since some would just change any obvious porblems then throw it on the used car lott.

I don’t think it would be your syncros if you still have shifting issues.

Sorry for asking an off-topic question in this thread, but can anyone please help me with locating the PCV valve in this 1987 Accord LX 5-speed?

It’s located in the top of the ‘black box’ on the back of the block under the intake however I would leave it alone as Honda PCV valves don’t often have issues and over time the rubber seals and hoses get pretty brittle, you may go to replace the valve an

Just to clarify here, is the jack lift point behind or next to the towing hook under the forward section of the car, or is it supposed to be jacked up directly on the towing hook itself? It appears to be on the towin

Ok I don’t know if I missed an update or something but going back to the shifting issue. If the vehicle is hard to get into first gear while the engine is running but shifts easy when the engine is off the clutch itself , master or slave cylinder could be
