🙂 I enjoyed the video and have always used Silicon spray since my old dealership days. I purchase a can every time I do my oil changes and I spray all the rubber gaskets on the body including the hood seal and the trunk gasket. I also spray the rubber boots to the steering rack and CV joint boots if they are there. I spray the window tracks with the window down and anything made of rubber with the silicon , as preserving the gaskets is a easier project than replacing them when they crack from old age.
We need good weather related information, as down south here, we do not see the need to prepare for the cold like you do. But we do have the occasional bad stuff and knowing what we can do and need to do will help everyone.

Would the silicone paste work the same?

Not really. It believe it would make more of a mess in this application. It would likely accomplish the same thing except I believe it would be more likely to attract dirt and also get stuck to other things like you when you get in and out of the vehicle.
