Hi everyone. I’ve seen video after video on how to check motor mounts… one foot on the brake and one on the gas, see how much the motor moves… ok that’s great for the front and back mounts but what about the side ones? Crow bar?
Got a geo prizm, the axel wobbles when turning or during what passes for hard acceleration (its a pretty slow carL so I replaced it… the reman does the same thing.
I’m told theser cars are known for shoddy motor mounts.
Got a second replacement and actually read the instructions this time, it says fix any alignment or mount issues first and that will likely solve any issues. The front and right mounts were rreplaced about 4 years ago but it looks as though the front one is bad again (many little cracks in rubber, some vibartion being transmitted to the car and the motor moves 3x as much going fwd than therear mount allows it to move when in reverse. (Still not a lot but still…) if the front is bad maybe the right one ( the side of the axle with issue) has gotten bad too, let alone the left one…
How do I diag the side mounts? Got new front mount on ebay for 20 bucks… I wonder how long it will be good for…
Thanks for any help
