Jiffy Lube showed me that my serpentine belt is cracked. I think their service/replacement for it is about $60-$70. Good deal? I may buy the part and let someone else do it cheaper. I saw that some serpentine belts are sold as with A/C and without A/C, not sure what that even means. My car has A/C. I noticed that my A/C light had been blinking especially when I’ve driven through puddles of water from the rain. Not sure if the A/C light blinking had anything to do with a bad serpentine belt?

Also, since my car does not have the “chart” to see how to install a new serpentine belt, where do I find this “chart” online? My car is a 2001 Toyota Celica GT.

        1. your vehicle should have a routing schema on the hood, like most cars do. If it does not, Google or go to library.
        2. Yes, you need to buy a serpentine belt for a/c. They are longer than non a/c ones as they run around additional pulley.
Celica belt will cost you about $20. Buy Goodyer Gator belt, those are very good quality ones.
Also check if you engine has timing belt or chain. Sounds ike you are due timing belt change too, and THAT is much more important.

I believe my car only has a timing chain not a timing belt.

upon replacing my water pump and thermostat, the mechanic took out the serpentine belt. He forgot how it’s supposed to be put back on, there’s no diagram under the hood of my car. Yes we did google the diagram, seem to have found it. I’m just curious if the serpentine belt was not placed back to the way it was, what problem could arise? Would the car not ride well?

If one is not to follow the diagram, but more of a handy man/experimental, what could happen if serpentine belts aren’t placed the way it was/should?
