My friend ask me to come with on a 5 hour drive next week since my car is more reliable. We will be driving back with 452 pounds of her supplies in the truck and back seat along with 2 adults equaling about 350 in front seats. The car is a 2008 Kia Spectra in very good condition.

Will all that extra weight damage my car’s suspension?

      Thank you

You’d have to find you GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) and subtract the curb weight of the vehicle. Their should be a sticker in the drivers side door jam that will show you your GVWR. Your curb weight, depends on the options on your vehicle but you can get that in vehicle specs search on google or edmunds.com. That will tell you the total load your car is designed to handle. I’m guessing you may be over the limit by a bit, but you won’t know until you do the research and math. For example-if your GVWR is 3500lbs and your curb weight is 2900lbs your car is designed to handle 600lbs of people and gear.

        Good luck!

Head for the nearest truck stop and put her on the scales.
